Valedictorian and Salutatorian Announcement for the Jonesboro ISD Class of 2025
This year’s Valedictorian is Layden Nichols, who has exemplified outstanding academic and athletic ability throughout his high school journey. Layden has shown remarkable dedication in both his studies and extracurricular activities, earning accolades for his commitment and talent.
Layden is the proud son of Lonna Gosset and Brandi Massingill, whose unwavering support has greatly contributed to his success. An accomplished athlete, he has actively participated in several sports. He has received All-District 1st Team, All-Region 1st Team, and All-State 1st Team Kicker in varsity football. He was honored as an All-District 1st Team player and named All-District Newcomer of the Year for varsity basketball. All-District 1st team outfielder in varsity baseball, and is a regional and state qualifier in track.
After graduation, Layden plans to attend Texas State University, where he will pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. His hard work and determination are sure to lead him to great success in the future.
The title of Salutatorian goes to Truett Foote, son of Joe and Crystal Foote. Truett has made significant contributions not only in academics but also through his involvement in various clubs and activities, including FCA, 4-H, FFA (Future Farmers of America), UIL (University Interscholastic League), football, basketball, track, and baseball.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Truett enjoys working closely with his family on their fifth-generation farm and ranch. He plays an active role in caring for livestock and maintaining equipment. During his spare time, he pursues his passions for hunting and fishing.
After high school, Truett plans to attend Texas A&M University to major in Biology, aiming to become a surgeon.
