January 5, 2021
Dear Jonesboro ISD Parents/Guardians:
The administrative team and teaching staff have reviewed student performance and attendance data from the semester of school. The data revealed remote instruction has not been successful for many of our students. The added burden of teaching both face to face and remote students is not in the best interest of all students. We believe it is in the best interest of students to return to face-to-face on campus instruction. Starting Monday, January 25, 2021 all JISD students will return to face-to-face instruction on campus instruction, unless you are granted an extension by the JISD School Board, at the January 21, 2021 regularly scheduled meeting. The Date and Time of this meeting will be posted 72 hours prior to the meeting on the JISD Website and at the JISD Posting site at the front of JISD.
It is the district’s belief that face-to-face instruction at Jonesboro ISD is the best method for children to learn. We look forward to welcoming back our students to the classroom and campus. Students and staff will still be expected to adhere to the COVID-19 safety guidelines established in our return to school plan. However, should you choose to pursue alternative means of education for your child, we wish everyone the most success.
Jonesboro ISD will continue to place students affected by testing, quarantine and confirmed cases as asynchronous instruction for the required period. During this time, students and parents will be provided with the appropriate educational resources to continue the academic learning of each child.
JISD Principal Kendra Gustin will be contacting families of virtual learners to discuss the next steps to return your child back to face-to-face on campus instruction on Monday, January 25, 2021.
The Jonesboro ISD and Board of Trustees are committed to the success of all students and staff and look forward to the remainder of the school year.
Superintendent, Jonesboro ISD
